RENEWABLE ENERGY

Renewable Energy

Renewable energy systems for the home

There are now many viable areas of potential for renewable energy systems for domestic properties with a variety of pay back criteria. The payback varies from typically 4 years to 10 years. Homeowners will usually consider long paybacks for environmentally friendly systems as their commitment to environmental control

Renewable energy systems and solutions are currently provided from CRC and our affiliated companies

The recognised practical application areas are:

Solar panels for hot water - modern solar panels can provide typically 70% of annual hot water requirements and do not require bright sunshine - only sunlight. Typical payback is 6 - 10 years

Solar panels PV for electricity - modern PV systems can supplement typically 10% - 20% of annual electricity and do not require bright sunshine - only sunlight. With the new ‘feed-in’ tariffs from early 2010 which can pay 50 pence per kWh for green electricity fed to the grid generated from PV systems the financial viability and payback are very attractive,  Typical payback is now 5 - 10 years

Wind energy - small wind turbines rely on availability of regular wind - may operate 50% of the time day or night and can supply 30% or more of the annual electricity requirements to a domestic dwelling. Typical payback is 8-10 years

Heat pumps - use outside air or ground regular temperatures to provide hot water or hot air for home heating and/or hot water all year round. Requires 1kW of electrical energy to produce 3.5kW of heat energy. Comparable running costs with gas fired systems and particularly useful where the are no gas supplies. Typical payback is 6-10 years

Woodchip and biofuel heaters/boilers - use waste wood and other biofuels to supplement or entirely replace home central heating and hot water systems. Rely on regular supply of suitable fuel. Typical payback is 4-8 years

Additional Waste and Sustainable Services

Waste & Water Management & Land Remediation - we have affiliates offering this important expertise. With current environmental restrictions, the escalating cost of land fill & water treatment - scope is ensured for the future. All clients interested in energy conservation will have a similar interest in water conservation & waste minimisation. Land remediation is driven by environmental legislation & the very high cost of land suitable for development

Waste to Energy, Biodiesel and Renewable Building Materials for Low Cost Affordable Housing - we have current/future access to the technology to make biodiesel fuel (and generate electricity) from household waste or landfill sites or from renewable resources of vegetable, organic or animal oils and this can be sold as a fuel or used as a raw material to produce polyurethane type building panels and rigid foams for modular affordable housing systems particularly for the Third World. Sustainable living and affordable housing has an increasingly very high World profile
